Our Solar System Infographic

About the project

The basis of this assignment was to take complex information – statistics, research results, data comparison, forms, charts, analysis, etc., – and present it in the most efficient and easily understood way possible. With its stunning beauty and vast unknown, I chose to create an infographic about our solar system, because what is more complex than than?

I created the infographic in Illustrator and went for a very flat design, as I wanted to soften up my darker colour palette. I stuck with simple shapes, so the visuals didn’t become too overwhelming when taking in the infographic as a whole. To truly make it informable, I felt it was important to have a decent amount of copy on the infographic. As a result, a large focus was on making sure the flow of information was easily understood. This was achieved through typography choices. Though all information is displayed in the same font, the colour, size and weight vary based on the importance of the information. From the scattered stars to the varying sizes, placement and colours of the planets, all elements successful work together to carry your eye down the infographic.
